"And life passes you by..."

For Kodaline, music isn’t just music. “It’s therapy,” says singer Steve Garrigan. “When we write music, the first thing we think of is, it’s therapy for us. Then we think of how we can use that feeling to touch as many people as possible.”
Steve, Mark and drummer Vinny May – all aged 22 and 23 – have been working towards this moment for much of their young lives. Growing up in houses just two minutes away from each other in Swords, Dublin, Steve and Mark met aged eight, when they were the only boys in the school choir. “We were there to pick up girls, of course”, jokes Mark. Years later, they began to share a love for music and at that stage Vinny May, who also lived in Swords, joined the group. The group wasn't fully complete until January 2012, when bass player Jason Boland was recruited.
They hope their music will provide therapy for others too. “Music should have a purpose, you know,” says Steve, “Our purpose is honesty”.

"One Day"

One day it's here and then it's gone
How are you still holding on?
How are you still holding on?

You've felt this way for far too long
Waiting for a change to come
You know you're not the only one

And life passes you by
Don't be wasting your time
On your own

You always try to see yourself
Through the eyes of someone else
Through the eyes of someone else

Too shy to say that you need help
You and everybody else
You and everybody else

Oh, life passes you by
Don't waste your time
On your own

Yeah life passes you by
Don't be wasting your time
All alone

As your heart gets bigger
And you try to figure out
What's it all about

And your skin gets thicker
As you try to figure out
What's it all about

Yeah life passes you by
Don't waste your time
On your own

One day it's here and then it's gone
How are you still holding on?
How are you still holding on?
